This department equips students with a comprehensive understanding of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes, ensuring that graduates can produce cost-effective, market-ready products. Additionally, it provides a deep dive into architectural design and technology, preparing students for careers as professional architects, architectural technologists and industrial designers. With a rich history dating back to 1970 and a merger that formed TUT in 2004, this department stands out for its diverse, technology-driven programs, including a unique professional Master's degree in architectural design and a Doctoral program launched in 2019.
